Morning Preparations
Time: 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM
The day usually begins early with:
- Hair, makeup, and traditional attire for the bride
- Groom’s preparations and turban tying
- Photography and videography of intimate family moments
Our insight: From filming multiple weddings, morning prep is often emotional and a great time for capturing candid memories.
Baraat (Groom’s Arrival)
Time: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
The Baraat is the groom’s grand arrival at the Gurdwara with family and friends, sometimes on a horse, with music and dancing.
Our experience: Baraat is one of the most energetic parts of the day, and timing can vary. We always adapt to ensure every key moment is captured.
Milni Ceremony
Time: 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM
The Milni is the formal introduction of the families:
- Garlands are exchanged between close relatives
- Families meet and greet
- Symbolic union of the two families
Filming tip: This ceremony can be quick, so preparation and timing are key.
Anand Karaj Ceremony (Sikh Wedding Ceremony)
Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
The Anand Karaj is the core Sikh wedding ceremony, including:
- Kirtan (hymns) for spiritual blessing
- Palla ceremony connecting the bride and groom
- Laavan: Four rounds around the Guru Granth Sahib symbolizing stages of marriage
Our insight: We have filmed many Anand Karaj ceremonies and know how to capture both the rituals and the emotions beautifully. Duration may vary slightly depending on the Gurdwara.
Ardaas and Hukamnama
Time: 12:30 PM – 12:45 PM
- Ardaas: Final prayer
- Hukamnama: Verse from the Guru Granth Sahib offering blessings
These moments provide spiritual closure to the ceremony and are important to capture on video.
Langar (Community Meal)
Time: 12:45 PM – 2:00 PM
- Guests share a traditional community meal
- Symbolizes equality and hospitality
Tip: Langar is often a relaxed time, perfect for candid videography and group photography.
